Alejandro Castro

Dr. Castro is a board-certified veterinarian with experience in general practice, urgent care, and preventive medicine. He is known for his calm, practical approach to cases, especially in fast-paced or challenging situations. He believes clients deserve to understand the “why” behind medical decisions and takes pride in communicating clearly and honestly while advocating for the best possible care for every patient.

Originally from Colombia, Dr. Castro earned his veterinary degree from the National University of Colombia in 2014. He later earned a Master’s degree in Veterinary Preventive Medicine from the University of California, Davis while completing the U.S. veterinary licensing process through the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG). In 2025, he became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM).

Over the past several years, Dr. Castro has practiced in northern Michigan, and since early 2026, he has provided relief and urgent care coverage across multiple veterinary hospitals throughout the state. His clinical interests include emergency medicine, surgery, preventive care, and teaching. He enjoys the challenge of urgent care cases and values working closely with both clients and veterinary teams to develop realistic, effective treatment plans tailored to each patient.

Outside of work, Dr. Castro enjoys CrossFit, continuous learning, and living a simple, grounded lifestyle. He looks forward to meeting you and caring for your pets.
